Passcode protection

Passcode protection is an optional security feature for Bridge widgets on Squarespace sites. When enabled, clients must enter a passcode before they can start a conversation through the widget. This adds an extra layer of privacy for your communications.

Setting Up Passcode Protection

To enable passcode protection:

  1. Log in to your Bridge dashboard
  2. Navigate to the Squarespace website's detail page
  3. Go to the widget settings
  4. Find the "Passcode Protection" section
  5. Enter a passcode (you can set this when adding a website or update it later)
  6. Save your settings

How It Works

When passcode protection is enabled:

  • Clients visiting your Squarespace site will see the Bridge widget as usual
  • When they click to start a conversation, they'll be prompted to enter the passcode
  • Only clients with the correct passcode can access the chat
  • Once authenticated, they can chat normally

When to Use Passcode Protection

Passcode protection is useful when:

  • You want to limit who can contact you through the widget
  • You're working on private or confidential projects
  • You want to ensure only authorized clients can start conversations
  • You need an extra layer of privacy for sensitive communications

Sharing the Passcode

You can share the passcode with clients through:

  • Email or other communication channels
  • Project documentation or contracts
  • Direct messages or phone calls
  • Any secure method you prefer

Changing the Passcode

You can update your passcode at any time:

  • Go to the Squarespace website's settings in your dashboard
  • Update the passcode in the widget settings
  • Changes take effect immediately

Removing Passcode Protection

If you no longer want passcode protection, you can remove it:

  • Go to the Squarespace website's settings in your dashboard
  • Navigate to the "Passcode Protection" section
  • Clear the passcode field or disable the feature
  • Save your settings

Note: Passcode protection is optional. When you connect with Squarespace, a passcode may be automatically generated, but you can remove or change it at any time in your widget settings.
